Our visit to Landhaus Bacher actually started as a weird plan with our friends Babsi and Jan: Because first came the Wachau Marathon…
So we found ourselves running a quarter Marathon in the morning and then (after freshening up and grabbing a bite at Loibnerhof to compensate the sport) enjoying a wonderful dinner at Landhaus Bacher.
The legendary restaurant was made famous by one of the few female chefs, Liesl-Wagner Bacher. Her approach on refined Austrian cuisine was highly renowned. Since 2002 her son-in-law Thomas Dorfer runs the kitchen, bringing into play international fine dining while keeping up the strong bonds to regional kitchen and ingredients. His cuisine was even awarded with 2 Michelin stars (until the last issue of the Austrian guide 2009). The restaurant itself is rather old school, a lot of wood, traditional decoration and keeps a lot of memories. I loved the picture walls from wine degustations back to the 70ties…
Unfortunately I didn’t keep any notes about the menu, so this is just a picture post (all pics taken by Babsi):
I would definetely recommend Landhaus Bacher – not only because it is a part auf Austrian culinary history. Mostly because the food was really amazing…
